Out for a Sunday Drive

We drove around 80 miles and saw mostly farms of soy bean and corn fields, miles of them. There was an ethanol plant out in the middle of no where with windmills galore. Just a few days ago, this area was hit with lots of rain and flooding. According to the campground owner here in Welcome, MN, the farmers are concerned about harvesting. If soy beans get too wet, they pop out of their pods and won't be any good. Most of the fields are too muddy to cut. It was nice to sit for a day.

The mighty Mississippi

The river is alot cleaner up here than at the end in New Orleans!

Mississippi River between Wisc and Minn

Didn't realize the Mississippi starts this far north. Driving was much better, no wind, not much traffic and just a little rain. Staying here at Welcome, MN for a couple of days. Rest time.

Hard driving day

Woke up to storm passing thru at 7 am. Also, heard on the TV that there was a terrible accident on our route causing miles of back up. So we drove south a bit to avoid the interstate into Illinois. Also drove further west than needed, but couldn't imagine driving the RV thru Chicago. As a result of the storm, the rest of the day was 35 - 50 mph winds. Along with traffic and winds, driving was no fun. Must have been tired as we didn't even take a picture of the campground (Wanna Bee RV Park).

Ohio to Indiana

Had a good day's drive from Bellevue, OH to La Porte, IN. We got off the toll road and drove through Michigan. Went to Sturgis, MI where my aunt and her twin daughters, Penny and Susan and their brother Bill grew up. We didn't stop as it took me 2 hours to remember their last name, (pretty bad for my Dad's sister and first cousins) which was the twin's maiden name and I didn't know their married names. Traci remembers my aunt as she taught Traci how to shuffle cards many years ago. So we drove across southern Michigan and avoided the toll road and Elkhart and South Bend. Stayed at La Porte at Cassidy's RV Park in Wisconsin Dells, WI.

First night stop

Made our first stop for the night (3:30) at Bellevue Ohio [343 miles and $19.(Camp Club)] and no problems. Very nice place for the week-end if your out here.

Making up time!

Hammer down & drafting, almost at 6-8 MPG, and another state added in our conquest to make up time!

Off & runnin

Left wednesday at 9 AM and made PA by 11 AM.

Free camping for 5 days

Water hose repair took 2 hours once they started. Not the easiest to get to once Doug (the Wilkins serviceman) found the leak. As you can see, we weren't alone at the free camping area.

Rocky start on Westward Ho trip

We left on schedule from Little York friday morning about 10 AM. RV started overheating going up Newfield hill out of Ithaca. Nursed the "Brave" to Wilkins RV (Workhorse repair dealer) in Bath, NY. Best they could do was tuesday morning. Packed the food and back to the house by 4 to reopen until Monday. Played golf at Walden Oaks Saturday.
