Big dog?

Stayed at Kerrville, TX on Wednesday before moving on to Schertz, [outside San Antonio] TX when Linda caught this sightseer checking out the rain and traffic.

Trailer trash?

We don't know what was going on but it took 5 patrol cars [the whole police force of Ft Stockton?] to handle the problem. News update, the cops left, the couple kept on walking thru the park and we watched the sunset!

The Roadrunner

There it is, bigger than life.

Fort Stockton, TX

Spent Monday & Tuesday touring The city that is the size of Cortland. Famous for Comanche Springs, artesian watering hole, as a stop over for travelers and the army.

This is Texas!

I 10 straight down the road. Occasional a little up & a little down or a little left and then a little right. Boring!!!! at 80 MPH.

Rio Grande River

Caught the last view of the Rio Grande River before we started moving more east instead of south. Yet another Border Patrol inspection station with dogs. We passed!

Stop for break at a rest area and parked next to this old Winston Cup Series hauler.
What do you think Richie?

The border

Passing thru the city of El Paso on Saturday, we come close to the Mexican border as you can see. Two small fences and a little water.

Texasssss

Thursday, we were on the move to Vado, TX for our next stop on the return home.

Told ya!

Linda out on the sand dune in the wind! I climbed to top, of course and almost rolled to the bottom. Big mistake as it filled my sneakers to the top.

St David RV Resort

Don't think we posted that we are in St David, AZ for two weeks. Leaving on the 17th of February.

Just looking.....really

Linda & I, Barb & Ed Bursch went to a RV show at Tuscon Fairgrounds to see if we could spent some more of the kids inheritance. See how happy Linda looks. Sorry kids.

Wrong turn?

Don't know, didn't ask!

Mountain Lions????

Many signs for warning of the Mountain Lions but didn't see any or they didn't us.

They grow everywhere!

Desert vegetation growing everywhere it wants.

Peaceful........

Hard to believe this is winter. It seems to be like a nice summer day just to sit and relax.

Up the creek

Another nice shot of Sabino Creek.

Lazy water

Just a beautiful picture. Looks like snow, but it's not. White desert.

Sabino Creek

It's almost dry now, but in the spring the canyon creek "runeth over."

Rock growing

What do you mean you can't grow anything in rock.

At the top....

Linda, Ed & Barb Bursch [Kelley's father & step-mother] stop for a picture at the top of the trail before walking back to the visitor center.

Sabino Canyon Recreation Area

Spent the day at Sabino Canyon by taking the tram up the canyon and walking the 3.7 miles back.

The sun....

See, I told you it just came up.

This is a record!

Yes, we had a bad day too. This was a record here. The 9.8 was an overnight low and the 34 was yesterday's high. It's 8:15 AM and the sun justed popped up.

Time to go....

After a great week of sunny warm Arizona, Kelley and Mom say "Good Bye" at Tucson Airport before returning to the winter scenes of New York State. Hope she enjoyed the sight seeing and relaxing time here. We did.

Guess who came to dinner?

Not far away watching was this little prairie dog waiting for the coast to be clear. He eats bird seed too!

Things behind the RV

Kelley took this behind the RV as Linda was feeding the "snowbirds." Believe this is a Gambel's Quail.

Cochise

Captured in stone on the mountain is the image [head laying down] of the famous Apache chief, Cochise, who lived in the territory.

Snow in Arizona?

Linda found snow on a trail in the park. Of course, Kelley responded "What the ---- is that?" We are up 6800'.

Standing up rocks

The Ciricahua Apache called these pinnacles "standing up rocks." Created about 27 million years ago when volcano eruptions spewed heated ash and melted particles formed layers of gray rock called rhyolite.

On the road again....

Kelley has us on the road to Chiricahua Natioanal Monument located in southeast corner of Arizona near the State of New Mexico. The park contains 11,985 acres of wilderness.

After a tuff day

Time to relax after a fast pace that Kelley set today. Played pinnochle, cribbage and Play "9" with Kelley and Connie & Jim Lepin.

But it's FOR SALE

....the ideal four wheel transportation for us. It's got a tow bar already.

New shoes

Thirty miles later on the donut, we're checking on tires for the girl when Kelley spots......

Hey kids.........

Continuing on with the donut tire, we find the ranch. Too far off the trail to take pictures of the new retirement home for Linda & I.

Nissan Sales Manager said....

...it will go anyplace! I guess the Versa is not cut out for four-wheeling. Will speak with the Sales manager about it as it is supposed to go any place. Kelley wants her Jeep Rubicon now.

A fork in the road...

Which way, Kel?
