Log book....

A new log book was put out by the local Courtand historical society and we were the first to sign. WE are from Cortland for now.

Sample of the stash.

Linda & I looking over the stash. Nothing but junk, of course!

Geocashing?

Believe it or not, we happened on a geocashing "table" on the side of the road.

Any problems?

Border Patrol truck flashes by us. They are all over the place.

Which way now, Kel?

A tee in the road, must decide which way to go. I know, ask the GPS in the back seat. "Linda, which way?"

Kelley's shortcut!

Kelley suggested a route for sightseeing returning from the border. I guess others decided to take the same route. Proceeded with caution.

The Border Fence..

Another view of the border fence that you can drive next to.

The fence...

That's the US fence at Douglas AZ. There is a second Mexican fence with a canal between the two.

Mexico...........Whoa

Finally made it to the border. Turned left before it was too late.

Active mining pit

Just outside Bisbee, we passed this small hole in the earth.

Bisbee, AZ

The next stop was the old mining town old Bisbee, home of the Copper Queen Plaza mine.

Boot Hill

Out traveling Monday and had to go though Tombstone again so we stop at Boot Hill as we missed it earlier.

It's only half time

but we are happy.....

There's another one.

Got back before the game and found another Steelers fan in the RV park. How bout that?

The OK Corral

A picture of the famous OK Corral before we go. Need to get back for some black/gold & green/white football.

A closer look

Willie standing by waiting for his cue to enter the street.

Willie Nelson??

One of the actors waiting for the next shot. Yes, he looks like Willie.

Horsepower

On Allen Street, the main street of Tombstone, they were attemping to film bikes traveling up & down the street for a movie called "Freeride."

Cowgirl

How this cowgirl looking now?

Touring Tombstone

Kelley, the Steeler fan, decided this is the way to tour a western town. Will see how it feels tomorrow.

Stupid choppers of the west

New division of the Homer Stupid Choppers of Homer, NY.

A biker town?

Yes, you read the sign right. Tombstone, the home of the "OK Corral."

What town??????

As we were out sightseeing with the kid, Kelley, on Sunday, we passed thru this western town and snapped this unusual picture. Guess the town.

Creatures in the desert

Linda out walking in the desert Saturday, found this lost Steeler fan. Kelley found six to sixty degrees and warm sun to her liking.

Camp fire?

Thursday night, the pictured suburban on a dolly caught fire right out front of the resort's club house where we were about to play card bingo. Surprise was that no one claimed the vehicle and there were no plates on it or the dolly. We are only fifty miles from the border.

Movin' East...

On the road [I10] again heading east thru Tucson AZ on Thursday. Another beautiful warm day in the southwest.

Desert Catcus

I'm the short one.

Current residence of the Big House

A pair of Great horned owls have taken up residence in the rafters. Not sure how long they have been there but they have no plans of leaving.

Model of the Big House

This is a scale model of the four story structure.

The Big House

The national monument consists of the ruins of multiple structures surrounded by a compound wall constructed by the ancient people of the Hohokam period, who farmed the Gila Valley in the early 13th century. "Casa Grande" is Spanish for "big house." This name refers to the largest structure on the site, which is what remains of a four story structure that may have been abandoned by the mid-15th century. The structure is made of caliche, and has managed to survive the extreme weather conditions for about seven centuries.

Casa Grande Ruins

Took a short trip to see the Casa Grande Ruins National Monument that preserves an Ancient Sonoran Desert People farming community and "Great House."

Desert Shadows at Casa Grande

We're spending the week here and the temp's are holding in the 70's. Nice layout with 362 sites.

For the Chevy people.

Casa Grande Street Fair

Casa Grande held their annual car & bike show with a street fair. Samples following.

On the move again........

After about 6 1/2 wonderful and sunny weeks in the Palm Desert area and the clearance to travel, the "Brave" is on the move. We are crossing the Colorado River that separates California and Arizona on the way to our next stop at Casa Grande. This old western town is fifty miles south of Phoenix.

LBG Model train ????

This is my idea of a model train set. At least six engines
working on the rails. Looks like the old towns in this area, Palm Springs, Desert Springs, Rancho Mirage, Indian Wells, Indio and Cathedral City all in the Coachella Valley. At the other end, it was the Grand Canyon.

Golden Eagle

This Golden Eagle is having a snack on some bird that should have been in his cage.

Mexican Wolf

Saw three of them. Really didn't look different. Bighorn sheep, Hornbill Gazelles, and Arabian Oryx were not good pictures to show.

Camel

Camels rides were offered but Linda said "NO"!

Grevy's Zebras

Three of the six enjoying the shade.

The Living Desert

We spent the afternoon, Wednesday, at the Living Desert in Palm Desert, CA. A sampling of flowers and cactus gardens was featured. Animal exhibits were a different variety as the following pictures will show. Starting with a giraffe.
